A wanderer, an apparition moving about lights and shadows, weary in a finite block of existence, meandering along a ragged path somewhere between a beginning and an end, a wilderness vast and unknown yet traversed by seemingly random footfalls through the sands, disappearing, caressed gentle by breezes of fate and faith brushing our passage hither and yon across the land as the grasses sway and swish at our cuff.
And in each footprint lay a memory, a line etched hard upon our being.
We look back upon them---
Upon every tear fallen in the dark of lonely.
Upon every candle never lit on every cake never baked, and every wish never cast upon a billion stars.
It is the love, and the agony of loving.
It is every prayer cast forth from a broken heart, and the hollow winds that leave them unanswered.
Here, parched and perched upon the very expanse of life, trapped somewhere between the sky and all of our yesterdays, we lay bare our soul in a great thirsting, a cry seen by no one.
And in this moment, standing at the very exhaustion of faith, as clouds gather shadows upon the land and upon our hopes, we seek respite.
Sometimes, amid the hollow winds---
